More Fun at the Zoo

The weather was so nice (and warm) yesterday, so my mom, sister, Edison and I decided to visit our animal friends at the zoo. I was so excited about the Spring weather that I even broke out the flip flops for the first time this year.

We weren't the only ones enjoying the sun; most of the zoo animals were out soaking it all in as well. There were a lot of animals out that Jonathan and I hadn't seen outside yet (like the zebras and camels who were usually hiding in their enclosures). Spring has also brought the arrival of many little zoo animal babies which was very cute. A couple of the squirrel monkeys had tiny little babies sleeping on their backs. We also saw some pretty cute little piglets running around in the mud.

Very large rodents (Capybaras and Maras)
The capybara is the largest rodent in the world

 Black Swan

Caribbean Flamingo

Baby piglets....I think they are actually Boars

Arctic Fox

The Emu with the crazy hair

The Ostrich was smiling at me

Dromedary Camel

Bactrian Camel

Camel love

Zebra

Addax
This trip to the zoo was also the first time I had seen the Grizzly Bear....who was probably sleeping the winter away until recently. But she was out yesterday and having a jolly good time playing around. She had some brown paper that she was playing with and it was pretty entertaining. You can also check the video out to see her somersaults. Just a quick note about the video....the lady standing beside me was giving her kid the whole run-down about how this bear ended up at the Vancouver Zoo.

A Visit from Auntie Sara!

My sister Sara came to visit for a few days....from the far away land of Fort Mac Alberta. She arrived on Monday morning and left this morning (Thursday), so it was a quick visit but we were able to spend lots of time with her. She hadn't seen Edison since she was here for her wedding, when Edison was just two months old. So, needless to say...he's changed a bit since then. Edison really is growing so fast, so I was really glad she was able to come and see him. Next time she sees him he'll probably be running circles around her!

Our days were fairly action packed. We visited grandparents (Edison's great-grandparents) in Chilliwack and in Langley, we had some yummy family dinners, and we made a trip out to the zoo in the beautiful weather that we had yesterday. Unfortunately, Sara's husband Ryan wasn't able to join her this time around, but they will both be back in BC for a longer visit in June.

Here are a few pictures of Edison hanging out with his Auntie:

On the Move

I took a little blogging break this week, but I'm back at it. Now that Jonathan is on Spring Break I'm hoping to have more time to fill you in on what we've been up to.

Edison is on the move. He is not officially crawling yet; but has started to drag himself along the floor. Although it looks like hard work, he can still manage to cover a pretty good distance. I think Jonathan and I are going to have to break down and get a baby gate for the top of our stairs pronto.

Here are a couple of short videos of his "crawling"....the first of many to come, I'm sure. They are taken exactly one week apart (March 10th and 17th) so you can see how far he's come in a week.

Lights, Camera, ACTION!

I am SO excited! My Dad bought us a video camera! And its the cutest little thing. Up until now, Jonathan has been taking all the videos of Edison on his laptop. It looks pretty funny when Jonathan's following Edison around with a laptop pointed at him. But it works, so we couldn't complain. However, now I'm armed with a video camera 24/7, so look out people! You're going to see a lot more videos of my little munchkin. It's awesome because its smaller than my cell phone so it's easy to keep on me, should a video opp present itself.

I haven't taken any super exciting videos yet, but here is one of Edison eating bananas.
