Better Late Than Never....

Last weekend, we went to Pitt Meadows Day... which of course, includes a parade. Last year was our first time watching the parade and Edison loved it. This year was no different. Edison had a great time watching all the floats go by... not to mention the people from the parade who throw out candy and toys. Some kids had bags of candy that looked like they rivalled halloween any day! It was loads of fun. AND, although the weather was looking a little iffy in the morning, by the time we got there it had cleared up and we had great weather for the rest of the day.

Edison loves firetrucks!

This one even did a cool water demo for us

Even little Davis poked his head out to watch some of the parade

After the parade we walked around at the big park where they hold the festivities for the rest of the day. Jonathan and I had to partake in the scrumptious pulled pork sandwiches that they have there every year. Jonathan went skateboarding at the skatepark nearby while Edison and I walked around and looked at all the booths... Edison even got his first balloon animal made by a clown! (He was only slightly freaked out by the clown).

Overall, a very fun day! We look forward to going again next year.

Grow & Gather: Come Check it Out!

Spring is in full swing at Grow & Gather and my Dad and Renata are keeping busy in their second year of owning this great garden center. If you haven't been by to check it out yet, it's a must! Their hanging baskets are gorgeous and there is lots of other great stuff to do and see.

Gorgeous baskets and planters

The pond department has been re-done and looks excellent!

Edison loves going to see all the fish

Of course, the visit wouldn't be complete without feeding the koi in the big pond

If you are in Maple Ridge, swing by! 24565 Dewdney Trunk Road.

Soaking Up the Rays

Jonathan's work schedule has started to ease up a little for the month of May. It's perfect timing because we've been having spectacular weather! Today we decided to take advantage of the sun and the fact that we have a beautiful lake only a 15 minute drive from our house. We actually have a few lakes that are close by, but I like this one because it has a nice sandy beach for Edison to play in.

There were people swimming in it today, however, it was still a little cold for our taste. Edison spent most of his time digging around in the sand. I walked around for a bit, putting Davis to sleep and then got to spend some time reading my book. And Jonathan spent his time flying his float plane, of course! Jonathan and Edison also built a great sand castle, and then Edison demolished it when it was time to leave... what a typical boy.

Our shelter from the sun... it was quite windy which is why it looks lop-sided

We had a lot of fun and it is so nice to be out in the sun when you're used to getting rain most of the time. I think we are going to have to head back again next week!
