Soaking Up the Rays

Jonathan's work schedule has started to ease up a little for the month of May. It's perfect timing because we've been having spectacular weather! Today we decided to take advantage of the sun and the fact that we have a beautiful lake only a 15 minute drive from our house. We actually have a few lakes that are close by, but I like this one because it has a nice sandy beach for Edison to play in.

There were people swimming in it today, however, it was still a little cold for our taste. Edison spent most of his time digging around in the sand. I walked around for a bit, putting Davis to sleep and then got to spend some time reading my book. And Jonathan spent his time flying his float plane, of course! Jonathan and Edison also built a great sand castle, and then Edison demolished it when it was time to leave... what a typical boy.

Our shelter from the sun... it was quite windy which is why it looks lop-sided

We had a lot of fun and it is so nice to be out in the sun when you're used to getting rain most of the time. I think we are going to have to head back again next week!

Fun at the Home Show

Every Spring and Summer there are a couple of fun events that happen in our town. In May we have the Maple Ridge Home show, which we check out every year. We also have Country Fest in August which is also a must see in this town.

This weekend was the Home Show which was a lot of fun... and extremely HOT! We have been having a great spring so far with lots of beautiful sunny weather... but this weekend has felt like summer. It is only the beginning of May and it was 32 degrees outside today... we melted! To top in all off, I was carrying a sleeping baby Davis in the wrap, which is about the equivalent of having a 12 pound hot water bottle strapped to you. So we were a bit warm, but we still had a lot of fun.

I love walking through the home show and looking at all the stuff, but Jonathan and Edison could really care less. For Jonathan the highlight is always all of the food trucks, including the must-have mini doughnuts. This year, for Edison, the highlight was all of the rides! Edison did a couple of rides with Jonathan and then once he was feeling more comfortable, did some rides all by himself. This was his first time doing rides on his own and he had a blast. He waved every time he went past us... it was so cute.

Their first ride was Choo Choo Charlie... Edison wanted to sit up front and got to ring the bell

His first solo ride... driving a big purple truck

And of course he had to fly an airplane!!

It was so much fun watching Edison enjoy the rides... he could have stayed there all day. However, these rides was a little on the pricey side. We are looking forward to spending a day at Playland this year and really getting our fill of rides... Edison will love it!

A Visit from the Albertans

My sister Sara and her husband Ryan were home for a few days in the middle of April. Edison hadn't seen Auntie Sara since his 2nd birthday in July, so it had been a while! He was very shy with her at first, however it didn't take him long to warm up. Before we knew it, he was taking every single toy out of his toy box and showing them all to her. Needless to say, it was a bit of a mess... but they bonded and it was so cute. After that, Auntie Sara and Edison were best friends... everywhere we went, he wanted to hold her hand.

This was also Auntie Sara and Uncle Ryan's first visit with baby Davis, who was pretty much sleeping or crying every time they saw him.

We made a few outings during the visit. We went out to Great Nana and Papa's house... a place Edison loves to visit because Great Nana likes to play with him and spoil him with treats. We also took a walk around the zoo and saw the animals out and about.

Auntie Sara is going to be back in just over a month for a friend's wedding. We're looking forward to her next visit... especially Edison, who misses his new friend.
